Alliance Leader David Ford has commended the reconciliation work of Rev Harold Good on the day before he will be presented with this year's World Methodist Peace award. The award ceremony is taking place tomorrow and previous winners of the accolade include Nelson Maldela and Jimmy Carter.

David Ford said: "Having known Harold since 1973, I am aware of the good work that he has done promote reconciliation in Northern Ireland and further afield.

"In his work with Corrymeela, as a Parish Minister, and as a representative of Irish Methodism he has a well deserved reputation as a peacemaker.

"The community should be grateful for the way that he and Father Alec Reid supported the work of General De Chastelain in the verification of IRA decommissioning which helped lead to the reestablishment of devolution."
