Alliance Education Spokesperson Trevor Lunn has welcomed NIPSA's move to hold a secret ballot over the latest offer to local classroom assistants.

The Lagan Valley MLA stated: "I would like to welcome NIPSA's decision to consult the classroom assistants in the correct way.

"I hope that this dispute can be concluded as soon as possible. I hope that all NIPSA classroom assistants will take the opportunity to express their view in the only format that is appropriate, the secret ballot.

"I am heartened by John Corey's remarks indicating that industrial action may be suspended pending the outcome of the vote."
