Alliance East Londonderry Representative Cllr Barney Fitzpatrick has expressed his shock and sadness at the death of a 17 year old woman in the Blackburn path area of Limavady last night.

Cllr Barney Fitzpatrick said: "This sickening news of this death will have hit the whole community very hard.

"It appears that the woman died in horrific circumstances. My thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of this young woman at this most traumatic of times.

"It's been an extremely difficult month for the town of Limavady, with the closure of Seagate and now the infinitely more devastating news of this death.

"I would appeal to anyone with information on this incident to contact police immediately."
