Alliance Enterprise Spokesperson Séan Neeson MLA has welcomed news that Newry-based pharmaceutical company Norbrook is to create up to 293 new jobs, saying it is much needed positive news following yesterday's tragic losses at Seagate.

The Opposition MLA said: "Today's announcement is good news and is a very welcome boost to the Northern Ireland economy after the devastating news at Seagate in Limavady.

"Those affected by the Seagate losses must be given the best possible packages and must receive strong support and assistance from our Executive.

"Many of the new posts announced today at Norbrook are high value and high skill research jobs. This is positive because we need to see more high value jobs being created here to give the local economy the momentum it needs in order to move forward."
