East Londonderry Alliance Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick

East Londonderry Alliance Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick has condemned the knife attack on a youth in Portrush on Saturday night. The youth was stabbed 6 times and was conveyed to the Causeway hospital where thankfully his injuries were not considered life threatening

Mr Fitzpatrick said: "This culture of carrying knives or any other kind of weapon must be seen to be severely dealt with by our Courts. Any person who would arm himself in this way is clearly seeking trouble and in this particular instance did not care if they took a life or not."

The Councillor went on to encourage anyone who witnessed the incident to report the matter to the Police and said hopefully the culprit will be identified and brought to justice.
