Fitzpatrick shocked at fatal accident near Portrush

Alliance Coleraine Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick has expressed shock at news of a road accident resulting in the death of a man near Portrush. The two-car crash took place close to the Priestland Road juncition of the Ballybogey Road at 8.30 pm last night.

Cllr Barney Fitzpatrick said: "I am shocked and deeply saddened by news of this fatal crash. The past week has seen so many horrific crashes in Northern Ireland and this extremely distressing trend must be addressed urgently.

"I would like to take this opportunity to express my deepest sympathies to the friends and family of the victim of this crash.

"I would appeal to all drivers to take the utmost care on our roads to help prevent further tragedies like those we have seen this week.

"Road Safety is a matter of the utmost concern to local people and I hope that the new devolved administration will accept the challenge on their behalf for safer roads, safer drivers and safer vehicles."
