McCarthy condemns Killyleagh shooting12.30.36pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 15th Aug 2007
Alliance Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy has strongly condemned a shooting that took place in his constituency overnight. A 28 year old man was shot at 01:00 am this morning as he got out of a car when a man approached him with a shotgun. The Alliance chief Whip said: "I totally condemn this shooting; acts such as this have absolutely no place in our society. "I had hoped that this sort of crime would become a thing of the past, but unfortunately this is not the case. "I think I speak on behalf of many who hope that the injured man makes a speedy recovery. "I would urge anybody with any information about this shooting to contact the police as we can not let this sort of behaviour continue on our streets." ENDS
