Alliance Party Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy MLA, has stated that Peter Robinson's comments today expressing his annoyance at some Executive Members for backing a vote on free personal care, shows that the Executive is becoming a shambles.

The Strangford Assembly Member said: "The new Executive appears to be in a shambles following Peter Robinson's comments on fellow Executive members over their support for free personal yesterday.

"Peter Robinson's statement today clearly illustrates that there is no coherence and co-ordination, never mind any collective responsibility within the Executive.

"Along with Brian Wilson and Kieran Deeny, Alliance is providing a coherent and cohesive Opposition. We are challenging the Executive and Ministers to address the needs of the people of Northern Ireland, and holding them to account on any failure to do so.

"Alliance of course welcomes any support from any quarter in the Assembly for our proposals, but it is up to the individual parties who sit on the Executive to explain their decisions."
