Alliance selects Leonard for Fermanagh and South Tyrone1.35.38pm GMT Tue 6th Feb 2007
The Alliance Party has selected Allan Leonard as its candidate in the forthcoming Assembly election in Fermanagh and South Tyrone. He stated that people are fed up with tribalism, and that Alliance offers a real alternative to sectarian politics. Following his selection, Allan Leonard said: "Alliance speaks for fairness and progress - we're a strong voice against sectarianism. "People are sick of tribal politics, and they want to see real progress at the Assembly. "I am very pleased to have been selected as an Alliance candidate to represent the people of Fermanagh and South Tyrone at the Northern Ireland Assembly. "Alliance won the most recent local government by-election, just a couple of months ago, on a campaign of moving forward together. We continue to campaign on this platform. "We are working for more shared public services and integrated schools. Segregation is a massive problem that costs taxpayers over £1 billion, every year. "By not wasting this money on the nonsense of tribal politics, Alliance would use the savings to scrap the impending water charges, and to improve frontline services for all." ENDS
