Alliance selects Griffin for South Down

The Alliance Party has selected David Griffin as its candidate for South Down in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

Following his selection David Griffin said: "I am proud to have been been selected as Alliance candidate for South Down.

"Alliance is the only party that offers an alternative to sectarianism and political stalemate.

"We won the only election since the creation of the St Andrews Agreement and this shows that people are fed up with tribal politics and that they want a new approach which works for everyone in Northern Ireland.

"The cost of segregation in Northern Ireland is staggering. One billion pounds is wasted yearly on keeping our society divided. People are being hit with water charges and rates rises because this money has been wasted down the years.

"Alliance offers a fresh approach and real solutions to problems in Northern Ireland. The four sectarian parties have been lacking in leadership and everyone can see that."
