Alliance Party Economy Spokesperson, Séan Neeson MLA, has welcomed news that Nortel has landed two contracts worth over £10 million in total, stating that high value work like the type carried out at Nortel is what the Northern Ireland economy needs. The contracts relate to the building of fibreoptic networks for Iraq and Kuwait. The East Antrim Assembly Member said: "These contacts are great news for Nortel and for the local area. "I am particularly pleased that this contract will boost high value employment in Northern Ireland. This type of work is exactly what the region needs to create sustainable economic growth. "The telecommunications field is extremely lucrative and these deals shows that Northern Ireland can compete and win on the world stage. "The fact that Nortel have won such large international contracts is testament to the high quality work that they carry out." ENDS
