Strangford Alliance Party MLA, Kieran McCarthy, has called for a resolution to the pay dispute concerning workers on the Strangford Ferry. The 16-strong crew is conducting a one day strike today.

Kieran McCarthy said: "I would like to see this pay dispute resolved as quickly as possible to ensure that disruption to the ferry service is minimised.

"Many commuters and local people use this ferry, therefore, the quicker it is up and running again the better.

"I call on Roads Service and everyone involved to get round the table and come to a quick agreement on pay to prevent further disruption."
