Alliance Party Spokesperson for Youth Affairs, Ian James Parsley, has said the huge turnout in support of the Queen's Alliance Society at the Freshers' Bazaar in Belfast today is evidence that young people are turning away from the tired politics of sectarianism.

The North Down Councillor stated: "Today we received the highest level of support for the party at Queen's this century, a level which compared well to other parties.

"More than ever, young people are tired of the stale old sectarian political system, and are now seeing Alliance as the clear alternative.

"Our representatives at Queen's have worked hard to re-establish the Society, and we are all encouraged by the level of support we found. There is an alternative to sectarian politics and segregation, and Alliance is now in a strong position to deliver that alternative."
