Alliance Party Coleraine representative, Yvonne Boyle, has called on people to exercise caution when taking part in activities in the sea near local beaches following the death of a man in a paragliding accident yesterday. The man, who was 53 years old, died in an accident in the sea off Whiterocks beach in Portrush.

Yvonne Boyle said: "I appeal to anyone taking part in activities in the sea near local beaches to exercise caution, to help prevent any further tragedies in the area.

"I wish to extend my sympathies to the family of the man who died in this accident.

"Its extremely sad because we have had two tragedies near Whiterocks beach in less than two months, as a young person also died in a tragic drowning accident there in mid-July."
