Alliance Ards Alderman Kieran McCarthy MLA has said the move to defer a decision on the sale of coastal land must mean the end of the idea.

Alderman McCarthy, the Party's Chief Whip, stated: "This is an absolutely ridiculous proposal.

"It is a despicable move because it is of paramount importance that the council retains amenities for young children in the area.

"I am pleased that so many people responded to my party's campaign on this issue, and that there were so many people in the chamber to let Councillors know what locals think of these proposals.

"Now it is time to end this nonsense."
