Alliance Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy has slammed those responsible for apparent arson attacks in Dungannon and leaving explosives in the grounds of a new development in County Louth, saying that such actions cannot be tolerated by the community.

The Strangford Assembly Member stated: "It is nearly every day now that we are hearing of further attacks, usually in border areas. Those responsible are doing nothing but damaging their own communities and causing severe difficulty and annoyance.

"Such actions cannot just be meekly tolerated by the community. People must show that this is unacceptable, and full force of the law must apply to those responsible.

"This is not a game. Lives are being endangered, businesses are being hindered, public services are being unnecessarily extended. This must end immediately."
