Alliance Party Justice Spokesperson, Stephen Farry, has welcomed moves towards the normalisation of the criminal justice system. Meanwhile, Dr Farry recognises that, sadly, Diplock Courts remain necessary on occasions.

Dr Farry stated:

"Most people will agree with any move towards full normalisation of the criminal justice system. However, the Government can only move forward as far as is realistically possible.

"Unfortunately, there remain paramilitary organisations and criminal networks out to intimidate juries. It is clear that these factors are restricting our ability to some take cases forward.

"While we welcome all moves towards normalisation of our legal system, we therefore reluctantly recognise the need to maintain Diplock Courts in some circumstances."
