Alliance Assembly Enterprise Spokesperson Séan Neeson has slammed a group, led by Eamonn McCann, that resorted to violence in their opposition to US company Raytheon's presence in Derry.

Alderman Neeson stated: "This attack on the offices of a key local employer was completely disgraceful, particularly given the high-profile nature of one of those involved. No one has the right to appoint themselves to carry out violence in this way.

"Companies such as Raytheon will be having second thoughts about remaining or investing in Derry - a result which will only have negative effects on what is already an unemployment blackspot.

"There is no meaningful distinction to be made between those who engaged in violent activity in Newry and Derry yesterday. There is no place for dissidents of any persuasion taking the law into their own hands in any democratic society."
