Alliance Pottinger Councillor, Maíre Hendron condemned this morning's arson attack on a petrol station on the Ravenhill Road. A shopping trolley stand and a sign at the petrol station were founded on fire by the emergency services when they arrived on the scene.

Cllr Hendron said: "I strongly condemn those involved in an arson attack on the BP petrol station on Ravenhill Road, which took place in the early hours of this morning.

"This type of behaviour is abhorrent and has no place in any law abiding society.

" I would appeal to anyone with information on this incident to contact police immediately."
