Campaign for filter light will continue: Long

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 6th Jul 2005

Castlereagh Alliance Councillor, Michael Long, has expressed his disappointment at Roads Service's failure to provide a filter light on the traffic lights at the Ballygowan Road at the Dual Carriageway for traffic going towards Knock.

Councillor Long said: "The Castlereagh Alliance team conducted a residents' survey in the area and people had requested that I lobby Roads Service for the provision of a right turn filter for the lights on the Ballygowan Road as it is very difficult for traffic to turn right towards Knock and Stormont at this junction, especially in the mornings.

"Roads Service's response was not a positive one, however I will continue to lobby them concerning this matter, as the filter would greatly improve access for road users in the area and local residents have indicated that they wish to see this measure introduced."
