Bell welcome funding

12.00.00am GMT Fri 26th Mar 1999

Assembly Member Eileen Bell has welcomed the continuation of EU Funding to Northern Ireland.

Mrs Bell said:

"I am glad that the European Commission has recognised that Northern Ireland while not retaining our objective one status should be singled out for further funding to cover this transition period which we hope will result in a sustainable peaceful society. It is recognised that no matter what source of a constitutional mechanism the Assembly operates it is vital that we have a stabile infrastructure throughout our community and that people on the ground have as much support as possible. I therefore welcome this money and I hope that it will be a significant contribution to empower and sustaining confidence throughout a new Northern Ireland."

ENDS.
