Farry Condemns Breezemount Murder

North Down Alliance Councillor, Stephen Farry, has condemned last night's murder and wounding in the Breezemount Estate, Conlig.

Stephen Farry said:

"I would unreservedly condemn this murder. Not only has it deprived a man of his life, but seriously injured another. Furthermore, the nature of attack, spraying a house with bullets, placed many other people in grave danger."

"The attack will spread fear within Conlig and the wider community of North Down. There seems little doubt that it was conducted by loyalist paramilitaries. People are going to want to know who was responsible for it, and why it was carried out."

"This incident is a further illustration of a growing problem of institutionalised paramilitarism. However, Alliance is clear that the basis of the Good Friday Agreement can be used to assert the primacy of the rule of law and democracy against those that wish to destabilise society."
