Concern at underage drinking: Long

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 10th Jan 2002

Castlereagh Alliance Councillor Michael Long has expressed his continued concerns about the levels of underage drinking in the Rosetta and Wynchurch areas.

Cllr Long has raised the issue at a recent meeting with the PSNI at Castlereagh. He said: "Many local people are very worried at the level of underage drinking that continues to go on, especially on the Rosetta Road.

"I was pleased to learn that the PSNI are taking the issue seriously and encouraged that they are working to eliminate the problem by liaising with the local community."

"I would also call on off-licences to ensure that young people cannot get access to alcohol by only serving over-18s."
