Ford condemns gun attack

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 24th Jul 2002

Alliance leader David Ford has condemned a gun attack on a family in Shetland Street, Antrim on Tuesday night.

Mr Ford said: "The shotgun blast fired by a gunman in this house could have easily killed an 11-week-old girl there."

"Violence only begets violence, and that is why it is so important that the community in Antrim unites against the gunmen, whether paramilitary or not."

"I would urge anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in Springfarm last night to contact the police in Antrim urgently."
