Alliance condemns hospital threats

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 5th Aug 2002

Alliance Castlereagh Councillor Michael Long has condemned threats to hospital staff in the Belfast area.

Cllr Long said he had been very concerned for staff safety after hearing about threats issued to staff at the Ulster Hospital, Dundonald.

Councillor Long stated: "This is a very worrying development, and has affected workers from all sections of the community. Staff at the Ulster have treated people through thick and thin, often in dangerous times, no matter what their religion or political beliefs.

"They deserve more respect than this. The sectarian scum behind all the recent threats to workers at different hospitals have nothing to offer, and their actions must be condemned."
