Extension of Free Public Facilities

12.00.00am GMT Tue 24th Sep 2002

East Antrim Assembly Member Sean Neeson is calling on the Government to extend free public facilities to all those who reach retirement at the age of 60.

Mr Neeson says:

"This is an anomaly in the legislation that must be addressed and I am convinced that the necessary finances can be found in the Executive Funds."

"In response to a written question from Sean Neeson the Minister for Regional Development Gregory Campbell has replied, "If I could obtain more resources , one of the options I would consider would be to lower he qualifying age for free fares to 60".
