Ford condemns attack on St Mary's Church

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 4th Oct 2002

South Antrim Assembly member David Ford has condemned last night's petrol bomb attack on St Mary's Church, Carnmoney.

Mr Ford said: "I totally condemn and abhor this latest attack on St Mary's Church. My sympathy is with Fr Dan Whyte and his congregation at this time."

"This further attack shows the continued sectarian tension that exists in Glengormley and throughout Northern Ireland. We must continue to work to combat this."

"I must thank the police service for their increased presence, and this has contributed to the better atmosphere in Glengormley. If anyone has information about this attack or any other incident, please contact the police."
