Be a good neighbour to older people: McCarthy12.00.00am GMT Sat 4th Jan 2003 Alliance Assembly member Kieran McCarthy is reminding everyone to be good neighbours to older people during the cold weather. Mr McCarthy said: "During the cold weather, and particularly when there is snow and ice on the ground, remember to check on elderly neighbours and friends. While many are very independent, they may find it more difficult to get out and about during the winter." "It might be a good idea to call in and ask if there is any groceries they need, if there is mail or bills to post, or benefits to collect. If you are able to drive in the harsher conditions we are currently experiencing and they are not, just taking a few minutes out of your day could mean a lot to them." Ends
