Dunlop calls on Government to intervene in Causeway row12.00.00am GMT Mon 27th Jan 2003 North Antrim Alliance representative has said the Government should intervene in the Giant's Causeway dispute over a new tourist facility. Ms Dunlop expressed concern over the announcement that Moyle District Council has approved a 'paltry' £1million project to develop the facilities at the Causeway. Ms Dunlop said: "I am pleased that the Council has managed to find a way forward in the development of the Causeway site but am horrified that only £1million will be spent on it. There is absolutely no way this will go far enough to develop facilities that are fitting for a World Heritage site and the main tourist attraction in the whole island of Ireland." "Any development in this area is very sensitive, situated so close to such an environmental treasure. I would urge Minister Mr Ian Pearson to intervene and provide additional funding to ensure that an appropriate facility is developed that complements the Causeway and provides facilities of a high standard for the half a million visitors who travel from around the world to this tourist attraction yearly."
