McCarthy welcomes fall in waiting list

12.00.00am GMT Thu 6th Mar 2003

Alliance Assembly Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy has welcomed the news that waiting list figures have dropped.

Mr McCarthy said: "After three years of rising numbers on the waiting list, this fall is very welcome."

"While today's news is a tribute to the hard work of hospital staff all over Northern Ireland, the Government must not see this as the end of the matter. When you consider how long it has been since the previous decrease in the waiting list, there is no room for complacency as far too many people are still waiting for treatment."

ENDS.
