Neeson welcomes Peace funding

Alliance Party Spokesperson on European Affairs Assembly Member Sean Neeson welcomes today's announcement on the extension of Peace II funding for Northern Ireland.

Mr Neeson said:

"This new funding recognises the importance of sustaining the peace process here, and acknowledges how recent funding from the European Union has been closely monitored.

"This also shows how important the EU is to a region like Northern Ireland. The continued Peace funding should undermine the Euro cynics who have been so critical of Europe, in the light of recent votes in France and Holland on the proposed constitution."
