Alliance wants platform for progress: Alderdice

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 26th Apr 2005

Speaking at a Federation of Small Businesses event in Belfast last evening, Alliance Westminster candidate David Alderdice called on the voters of North Down to give Alliance a platform for progress.

Dr Alderdice stated: "Clearly the polls and the odds are pointing towards a comfortable victory for Lady Hermon in North Down -- and they are rarely wrong.

"However, I am asking people to try a new way by voting for a party whose record in attempting to make political progress is unblemished, but which retains the influence to make a real difference.

"Every vote cast for Alliance helps build a foundation for real progress based on our plans for voluntary coalition, de-segregation and a society free from the scourges of gangsterism and bigotry. People have nothing to lose in helping build that foundation."
