"Think about using your vote": Close/Long

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Mon 18th Apr 2005

Alliance candidates in Lagan Valley and East Belfast, Seamus Close MLA and Naomi Long MLA, have called on people to use their vote for change.

Speaking at the Alliance Party's candidate launch, Mr Close stated: "I would appeal to people to get out and vote. There's a real risk over 50% of people will not do so. I would ask them to consider: how will this improve matters?

"I would ask people to think about how they use their vote. This is their chance to change Northern Ireland for the better."

East Belfast candidate Naomi Long added: "The choice is clear to people. Decent people don't vilify other candidates."
