Alliance condemns East Belfast petrol bombing

12.00.00am GMT Tue 18th Jan 2005

East Belfast Alliance Assembly member, Cllr Naomi Long, has condemned the petrol bomb attack in Tweskard Lodge, off the Belmont Road, in East Belfast. Damage was caused to a car when a petrol bomb was thrown through a window of the vehicle in the early hours of Monday morning.

Cllr Long, Chair of the East Belfast Sub-group of the District Policing Partnership Board, said, "This was a reckless attack in a residential area, which could have been very serious had the fire spread. Thankfully, the owner of the car managed to extinguish it.

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to contact the local police."
