'Need for cool heads in Shorts dispute'

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 7th Aug 2003

Speaking after talks between unions and management at Belfast aerospace company Shorts broke down, East Belfast Councillor Naomi Long stated:

"This walk-out is worrying, and I hope that the talks have not broken down irrevocably, as the impact on jobs and the local economy in east Belfast could be disastrous.

"There is a need for those involved to keep cool heads and to remember what is at stake here."
